Authorities are investigating the death of a Columbia County inmate.
The inmate was found unresponsive in his jail cell yesterday morning, and first responders began life-saving measures.
Those efforts proved unsuccessful, and the 58-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say the inmate was being held for two months at the time of their death.
While the death is under investigation, the sheriff’s office mentioned it appears the inmate “suffered a medical event while asleep in his bed.”
