The United Way of Sheboygan County has announced the final two recipients of grant funding.
Last week, Black-American Community Outreach was the first of three organizations to receive a 2026 Innovation Grant.
Now, the United Way has shared that the Sheboygan County Student Engagement Team and Families and Neighbors Together have received the second Innovation Grant, totaling $10,000, to launch a community garden at the Wesley House on Union Avenue.
Meanwhile, the final Innovation Grant has been awarded to the Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County.
This $20,000 grant will help the organization expand English literacy opportunities throughout the community.
This cycle of Innovation Grants focused on essential needs in the community.
During the application process, nearly every applicant listed English literacy as a significant barrier to their success.
On the reasoning for choosing the Family Resource Center, the United Way stated, “Simply put, improving literacy opens doors. It is a critical first step toward achieving long-term financial stability and breaking cycles of poverty. We’re proud to invest in this program and help our neighbors thrive.”
