The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a plane crash.
Deputies were called to Oakridge Road, just west of Green Meadow Road in the Town of Clayton, yesterday, just after 4:00 p.m., for a report of an airplane that went down.
A fixed-wing single-engine Zenair CH-750 Cruzer had a mechanical issue and landed hard on Oakridge Road. The aircraft came to a rest partially in a ditch.
The 71-year-old pilot and a 22-year-old Swedish passenger were not injured.
The plane has damage to the front end and to the landing gear. Officials with the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been made aware of the incident and will continue the investigation.
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies also received help from the Wisconsin State Patrol, Town of Clayton Fire Department, first responders, and Appleton International Airport Public Safety.
