Wisconsin’s Senate Majority Leader is reflecting on a 12-year career in Madison politics.
9th District State Senator Devin LeMahieu’s time is winding down after announcing in March this year that he is not running for another term.
On WOMT’s Be My Guest program, he thanked everyone who voted for him during his time in Madison.
The Oostburg Republican looked back on some of the things he accomplished, including his favorite bill he passed in his first term with Manitowoc Republican Assemblyman Paul Tittl.
He stated it was “When we increased the speed limit on the Wisconsin interstate system up to 70mph from 65.”
He also recalled creating the REINS Act after the 2018 General Election, which he called the most important piece of legislation he’d worked on.
Sen. LeMahieu says the bill, “Gives legislative oversight over the rule making process so that way bureaucrats aren’t producing rules that have the force of law on elected bureaucrats.”
LeMahieu will leave Oostburg and move to a Madison suburb to live with his wife, whom he married three years ago.
He has served as Wisconsin’s Senate Majority Leader since 2020.
