Local health officials are reminding residents to be mindful of the extreme heat across the lakeshore.
Sheboygan County, along with most communities on the shore of Lake Michigan are currently experiencing an extreme heat warning with temperatures expected to reach near triple digits today.
With that in mind, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health is informing the public of cooling centers throughout the community, offering a chance for individuals to escape the heat.
Public cooling centers include the Mead, Elkhart Lake, Plymouth, Kohler, Oostburg, Sheboygan Falls, and Cedar Grove Public Libraries, along with Generations in Plymouth, Uptown Social in Sheboygan, and the Lakeview Community Library in Random Lake.
Those looking for a bit of respite from the extreme heat are encouraged to stop by and cool down.
On the heat warning, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health noted, “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.”
The address of each of the community cooling centers can be found on the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health Facebook page.
