The Milwaukee area is seeing an uptick in activity involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Journal Sentinel reports an immigrant advocacy group has confirmed 18 arrests by the federal agency, with most taking place in Brew City and one in Waukesha.
The arrests were conducted in the public eye, with agents traveling in unmarked cars, wearing “police” vests and masks over their face.
The masks have sparked some public debate as Milwaukee passed an ordinance banning masks from being worn by ICE agents.
