
The Manitowoc American Legion baseball team was in Marinette for the annual Firecracker Tournament this past weekend and came home as champions.
Post 88 started the weekend with a 5-3 win over the SooBlackSox at Charles D Pedersen Ball Park.
They then faced Green Bay Southwest, whom they easily dispatched 12-2 in 5 innings, and faced Kimberly in the semifinal game, which they won 9-2.
In the championship game, Post 88 held off a late rally to take down Watertown 4-3.
Aaron Stephany, Cade Grapentine, and Benson Dickrell led the way at the plate all weekend, each driving home 4 runs, while Stephany also allowed just two hits on the mound in the win over Green Bay Southwest.
Gabe Eichman had 3 RBI over the weekend and pitched the championship game, allowing just 3 hits and one run.
Jake Hilmer, Joe Shimek, Noah Blaser, Aiden Reinke, and Jace Jaschob also drove in single runs as Manitowoc improved to 11-1.
Post 88 will be back in action tomorrow as they host Marinette at Bruce Steinbecker Field.
