Manitowoc County’s Sheriff has completed a fifth session of a course through the National Sheriff’s Institute (NSI).
Sheriff Dan Hartwig participated in the NSI’s Communicating for Impact Course two weeks ago in Virginia.
He was selected to join 17 other sheriffs from across the country for the opportunity to “enhance their ability to inspire, motivate, inform, build trust, and effectively lead change in a manner that promotes their organization’s vision and values.”
Through different discussions and exercises, he learned different strategies for “effectively navigating the complexities of social and professional media coverage.”
That included simulated press conferences and virtual interviews, providing valuable real-world experiences.
The NSI’s purpose is to prepare sheriffs for a variety of matters affecting their office.
The institute was developed back in the 1970s.
