Even more road work will be coming to Sheboygan County in the coming weeks.
Governor Tony Evers recently approved a $5.3 million resurfacing project for State Highway 28 between Highway 57 in the Town of Lyndon and County Road A in the Village of Kohler.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation explains that the project will stretch 8.9 miles and begin on Tuesday, July 7th, and is expected to be completed in late October.
Projected work includes a bridge replacement at the Onion River, milling, centerline and shoulder rumble strip installation, and more.
While work is being completed, two-way traffic will be maintained for the most part, however, full lane closures will be in place in select locations during bridge work.
This road work is anticipated to extend the service life of Highway 28 and create a smoother driving experience, while also serving as proactive rehabilitation that will reduce long-term maintenance costs.
