The deadline to apply for a leadership class through the Chamber of Manitowoc County is next week.
Applications are still open for the chamber’s community engagement program called Leadership Manitowoc County.
The nine-month class provides information and education about the community’s wide range of opportunities and challenges and helps build a network of leaders who will volunteer their time and talents to a community-based project.
Participants will be taken to a local business or organization once a month to see what they do for the community.
During that time, they will work with a local nonprofit to do a project or volunteer their time to help the organization in some way.
The class starts with orientation before students are taken on themed field trips covering history and heritage, government, public safety, and other topics.
The program fee for Chamber members is $749, while non-Chamber members must pay $1,498.
Nonprofits get a discount rate, and class size is limited.
