Manitowoc County is looking to make roads safer in the future.
The county board applied last week for a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant for $200,000.
The money would go toward developing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, which would include a comprehensive safety analysis, stakeholder and public engagement activities, the development of a High-Injury Network, and more.
The county would provide a local match, with federal funding covering 80% of the project and $50,000 from the county, bringing the total to $250,000 for the Safety Action Plan.
The U.S. Department of Transportation created the grants to help prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
