Some Madison-area groups are warning about a surge in injuries involving e-scooters and e-bikes.
The Dane County Traffic Safety Commission and others spoke to reporters yesterday about a 194 percent increase in crashes involving e-bikes and motor vehicles between 2022 and 2025.
During that same time, crashes involving cars and electric scooters went up by 260 percent.
Officials also mentioned people under the age of 20 accounted for nearly half of all e-scooter and car crashes last year.
The Safety Commission mentioned it’s a wake-up call for everybody, and solutions for safety need to be found.
