The City of Plymouth is preparing to celebrate all things cheese this weekend.
The 4th annual Cheese Capital Festival will be held on Friday (June 26th) and Saturday (June 27th) at Plymouth’s Stayer Park, beginning at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.
The festival will kick off with a procession of Trans AM Series drivers traveling to Plymouth from Road America at 6:00 p.m., offering attendees the chance to meet the drivers and get an up-close look at the cars, which are in town for the Cheese Capital Cup.
Live music will then begin at 6:30 p.m. with a performance from Doozey.
Day two will then begin with the cheese parade through Downtown Plymouth at 11:00 a.m.
Additional events throughout the day will include more live music, a mac and cheese contest, a magic show, a cheese eating contest, and a cheese wedge race down the Mullet River with $1,000 on the line for the winner.
This annual event looks to celebrate the City of Plymouth, which is considered the Cheese Capital of the World, thanks to internationally recognized companies such as Sargento, Sartori, Masters Gallery, and Great Lakes Cheese, which account for over 14% of all cheese consumed across the entire country.
