The Two Rivers Police Department is telling electric bike and scooter riders to obey the law after some reports of unsafe riding behavior.
The department says that while they can be a fun and convenient way to get around, officers have seen riders ignoring traffic laws, riding with multiple passengers, failing to yield, and operating at unsafe speeds.
As summer continues, TRPD says they will increase education and enforcement efforts.
The department doesn’t want to write tickets but would rather prevent injuries and provide warnings ahead of time to parents.
No matter if it’s an e-bike, electric scooter, or moped, riders need to obey traffic laws, yield to pedestrians, stay alert, and wear a helmet.
They also provided information on what vehicles you need to have a driver’s license and motorized devices that might not be allowed on public streets.
