
Congress is encouraging some students to write about what makes America the greatest country in the world.
The America 250 Essay Contest gives students in grades 6-12 a chance to engage with the values and institutions that shape the nation and help them strengthen their writing skills.
6th District Congressman Glenn Grothman of Glenbeulah says the winning essay in each age division will be published in the Congressional Record and will be displayed in his offices in Fond du Lac and Washington, D.C.
Winning students will also get an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol.
6th through 8th graders are asked to write about what makes the U.S. strong and what can be done to strengthen it.
9th through 12th will write about what they value about the American Constitutional Republic and what their hopes are for the future.
Rep. Grothman says essays must be submitted by July 31st to RepGrothmanAmerica250EssayContest@mail.house.gov.
