More details have come to light regarding the shooting at the Oneida Casino over the weekend.
39-year-old Long Thao of Appleton is facing charges of Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Possession of a Firearm as a Convicted Felon, and while under a Child Abuse Injunction, Operating a Firearm While Intoxicated, Resisting or Failing to Stop, OWI, and Refusal to Take an Intoxication Test After Arrest.
WBAY reports that the victim told police that he and Thao had arrived at the casino on June 19th with two friends.
After gambling and drinking for three and a half hours, Thao and the victim got into a verbal argument.
The duo went out to the parking garage, where Thao grabbed a gun and pointed it at the victim.
The victim told police he began to walk away, which is when he was shot in the back.
Thao then allegedly stood over him and pointed the gun at his head, but decided not to when the victim said, “I love you.”
Thao then got in the car and drove away.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office later located Thao on Highway 172 near Ashland Avenue, but Thao led them on a short chase before stopping at the bottom of the off-ramp from Highway 172 to Monroe Road.
His bond was set at $750,000 cash.
