The next generation of farmers in Manitowoc County took the reins for a record-setting Breakfast on the Farm.
While this year’s June Dairy Month celebration was hosted by the Hockhammer and Krueger families, the ones who put in the most work were the kids.
Megan and Gary Hockhammer, and Emma Krueger planned for weeks to put together this event for their community, and they made sure that everyone who came had the best possible experience.
While it took some time to put together Breakfast on the Farm, Megan said they would definitely do it again.
“Iit was a lot of fun being able to show our complete farm,” she told SeehaferNews.com. “Having everyone be on both sides of the road, show every barn, the growth of our animals.”
Although everything did go well during the day, Gary noted there were a couple of things they wished they had done differently.
“I would change the way we park the people,” he noted. “(Maybe) have more than one access point to the field from different routes because at one point it was kind of backed up a couple miles down the road.”
This was their first time hosting Breakfast on the Farm, and it came with new experiences that they will never forget.
“My favorite part was seeing all my friends come out, especially people from school who have never been here,” Emma said. “Just being able to learn about and understand what I’m actually talking about and what farm life is really like.”
The event was definitely a success, breaking the previous attendance record, and the Hockhammers and Kruegers say they wouldn’t trade this experience for the world.
