A woman has been arrested on arson charges in Door County.
The Sturgeon Bay Police Department was called to a barn fire in the 1400 block of North 8th Avenue on June 10th, along with the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department.
There were no animals in the bar, which was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival, and there was no one present on the property.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze, but when the local firefighters and the State Fire Marshals Office began investigating what started it, they determined the fire to be suspicious.
Investigators followed the trail of evidence, including witness interviews, which led to 59-year-old Donna J. Franklin of Sturgeon Bay.
She was arrested on Monday on a single charge of Arson of a Building without the Owner’s Consent, which is now before the Door County District Attorney’s Office.
Franklin’s initial appearance was scheduled for yesterday, but she is still without legal representation, so it was adjourned until next Monday.
