A Manitowoc woman charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from a local business has been convicted.
46-year-old Katherym Feo-Rodriguez was found guilty due to a no-contest plea to charges of theft, false representation, and forgery last week.
Two other forgery charges were dismissed but read into the record. Feo-Rodriguez was ordered by Judge Robert Dewane to spend 7 years on probation with a 3.5-year prison sentence stayed.
Conditions include not being allowed to prepare taxes for anyone other than herself, not managing any financial accounts other than hers, paying over $47,000 in restitution, and not having contact with the victim or the business.
The 46-year-old was arrested in March last year after Manitowoc Police conducted an investigation at Darcy Woo Grooming.
The owner said she hired Katherym to handle personal and business taxes in 2019.
Feo-Rodriguez filed the businesses’ 2018-2020 individual tax returns late and did not file returns for 2021 and 2022.
$43,000 was also transferred over from the victim’s account to her own, while only $1,780 was used to pay the business’s taxes.
