Fundraising is complete on a Kiel Fire Department project.
The department announced on its Facebook page that it’s officially reached its goal for a new training tower.
The tower will provide firefighters with a safer, more realistic place to train in skills such as ladder operations, hose advancement, search and rescue, and more.
Construction on the training tower began in November last year and is almost finished.
The training tower will also be used by other emergency departments.
Kiel firefighters explain that “having a local facility where agencies can train together will help improve communication, coordination, and overall readiness so we can better serve our communities when we are called to work side by side.”
The fire department finished by thanking donors who made the project possible, including Containers 411 of Chilton, C.D. Smith Construction, the City of Kiel Department of Public Works, and others involved.
The training tower will create a realistic environment for firefighters to train for real emergencies in a controlled setting.
The training tower cost around $55,000.
