The Wisconsin DNR is investigating after a fish kill on the Sheboygan River.
Last Thursday (June 11th), DNR investigators responded to a fertilizer spill impacting the river.
Staff observed a leaking fertilizer tank east of Meadow Lark Road at Majestic Meadows Dairy in Sheboygan Falls.
The fertilizer entered the water via a drain tile, which discharged to an unnamed tributary connected to the Sheboygan River.
The farm halted the release and took action to prevent further impacts, in consultation with the DNR.
They continue to monitor the kill and advise people to avoid collecting or eating dead fish found on or near the river.
