The second of two Milwaukee women has been sentenced in connection with a case in which a 4-year-old boy shot an 8-year-old girl.
Court records show 24-year-old Vanta’jah Westmoreland pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor child neglect counts.
A judge sentenced her to two years of probation with conditions including sobriety and a ban on possessing firearms.
Prosecutors say Westmoreland and Nakia Piggee left four children unattended in an apartment for about 40 minutes before the November 2024 shooting.
Piggee previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child neglect and also received two years of probation.
