Multiple teenagers were injured, and a teen girl died in a single vehicle rollover crash over the weekend.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of W1951 Highway HH in the Town of Calumet just after 7:15 Saturday evening on a report of a single vehicle crash.
The initial investigation indicates an SUV was traveling west on Highway HH when it failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.
The vehicle then struck a culvert, became airborne, and collided with a utility pole.
One of the passengers, a 16-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her identity is being withheld pending notification of the family.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old female driver from Sheboygan and a 15-year-old passenger were taken by ambulance to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, a 15-year-old passenger was flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, another 15-year-old passenger was taken by his parents to St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, and the sixth victim, a 14-year-old passenger, was released to their parents at the scene.
The driver was subsequently arrested on a charge of Suspicion of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Calumet Fire Department, Mount Calvary Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Ambulance, Kiel Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, ThedaStar Air Medical Transport, and WE Energies for their assistance at the scene.
