An annual fundraising event for local veterans is less than one week away, and there is a new addition this year.
American Legion Post 477 out of St. Nazianz will once again be at Shadows Bar in School Hill on June 19th and 20th for their annual Tractor Days celebration.
The Friday festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. with food, entertainment from the Bobby Allen Show, a check presentation for Old Glory Honor Flight, and the brand new Veteran Olympics.
There are three events, all designed so veterans with disabilities can participate.
The first event is called “Shoot the TP,” where participants use a Nerf dart gun to shoot at a roll of toilet paper.
You get one point for hitting the roll and two points for going through the tube.
Second is called “My Balloons Need Washing.”
In this event, participants will try to shoot, tap, or propel a balloon into a basket.
Finally, there is “Putt My Darts,” where contestants will try to put a golf ball through a hole in the bottom of a dart board.
Teams of five can register for $20, with all proceeds going back to Old Glory Honor Flight.
The Veteran Olympics will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will end just before the check presentation at 6:00 p.m.
The annual tractor parade will be held at 10:00 Saturday morning, and there will be wagon rides, face painting, raffles, and food for sale.
