A graduating class from an area high school has given thousands of hours of service to the community.
The Plymouth School District has announced that the Plymouth High School Class of 2026 is the first in the school’s history to graduate with a community service requirement.
With this, each of the 166 Plymouth seniors was required to complete at a minimum of 25 hours of community service during their four years in high school.
Not only did all 166 hit this requirement, but most of the graduates blew past that number, with the Class of 2026 averaging approximately 38.5 hours, totaling more than 6,400 hours of community service among them.
The district continues to say that students were encouraged to give more than the required amount of time, and one student went above and beyond, with an impressive 450 hours of community service.
Organizations students helped out include the Plymouth Public Library, Project Angel Hugs, Rocky Knoll, Mental Health America, Road America, food banks, and many more.
