A Madison man is dead after his kayak capsized on the Sugar River.
It happened Tuesday afternoon near Decatur when the 69-year-old was with a group of people.
First responders say the man went ahead of the group when he got entangled in some trees, and his kayak capsized, leaving him underwater.
He was taken to shore unresponsive and died at the scene.
The man’s death is being investigated, although police noted he didn’t have a life jacket on.
