Sheboygan’s Mayor is aiming to amplify the city’s national voice.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson was elected to a leadership position on the United States Conference of Mayors’ (USCM) advisory board this week.
The USCM is the official, nonpartisan organization that represents cities across the country with a population of 30,000 residents or more.
On this honor from his peers, Mayor Sorenson said, “Sheboygan has earned a seat at the national table, amplifying our voice. This role gives us an opportunity to advocate for the investments, partnerships, and policies that will help our city continue to grow and thrive.”
In this new, national role, Mayor Sorenson said he looks forward to “ensuring that Sheboygan’s perspective helps shape the future of America’s cities.”
New additions to the advisory board include Milwaukee’s Cavalier Johnson, Mike Johnson of Denver, Mark Freeman of Mesa, Eileen Higgins of Miami, and Karen Goh of Bakersfield.
The key functions of the USCM include developing effective urban policy, building federal-city relationships, and creating a shared forum for urban leadership.
