One of Manitowoc County’s compost sites that was temporarily closed has now reopened.
Recycling Center Operations Manager Jon Reisenbuechler tells SeehaferNews.com that the Woodland Compost Site can again accept brush and branches.
The compost sites on Woodland Avenue and Basswood Road are designed for the normal amount of branches and brush that residents generate throughout the year.
But the sites can become overwhelmed after severe storms affect large regions.
When that happens, closures or restrictions may be imposed to allow the material to be processed.
Reisenbuechler reminds residents that the sites will accept items such as tree branches, brush, leaves, wood chips, sawdust from untreated wood, and other natural items.
Items that are not acceptable can be found on the Recycling Center’s website at recycling.manitowoccountywi.gov.
