Manufacturing students in Two Rivers created a bench to honor a local resident.
The memorial bench for Steven “Steve” Grumann is placed at the Van der Brohe Arboretum and was reverse-engineered by the students as part of their coursework.
The bench was designed, plasma-cut, welded, and powder-coated by students, who also created a concrete slab for stability and support.
Grumann passed away at the age of 50 back in 2015.
His obituary says that growing up in Two Rivers, Steve developed a love for the outdoors.
That led him to attend UW-Stevens Point, where he got a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources.
The Two Rivers Public School District thanked Van der Brohe Arboretum Executive Director Lyssa Schmidt for her willingness to coordinate with the students throughout the process.
