A local nonprofit has given substantial financial support to area students pursuing higher education.
The Kohler Foundation has announced that it has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to students from throughout Sheboygan County.
Of the $1,010,000 handed out, $340,000 was given to three students receiving the organization’s top awards, the Herbert V. Kohler (HVK) Scholarship and Ruth DeYoung Kohler (RDK) Scholarships for Artistic Excellence.
Brennan Nickel of Plymouth High School was presented the $150,000 HVK Scholarship by David Kohler before attending UW-Madison to study mechanical engineering.
Two area students received the RDK Scholarships, including Alaina Arnold, also of Plymouth High, and Levi Ruona from Cedar Grove-Belgium High School.
Arnold, who received $80,000, will attend the University of South Florida to study dance, while Ruona was awarded $110,000 and will be studying music education at Lawrence University.
