The two suspects charged in the death of Elijah Vue will return to court tomorrow.
40-year-old Jesse Vang and 32-year-old Katrina Baur will be back for a scheduling conference.
This comes after Vang was recently denied a change of venue and was unable to sequester a jury, despite arguing during a motion hearing last month with his attorney.
Judge Anthony Lambrecht also scheduled trial dates for February and March next year, which could be discussed during tomorrow’s hearing.
Baur’s attorney asked for additional time for a scheduling conference because she is still looking through evidence.
Vang faces charges of physical assault of a child causing death, hiding a corpse, chronic child neglect, and resisting or obstructing an officer.
Baur is charged with chronic child neglect, the consequence is death, neglecting a child, and two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer.
Elijah’s remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers in September 2024 after he was first reported missing in February that year by Vang.
A criminal complaint alleges that Baur was dropping the toddler off at Vang’s apartment in Two Rivers to “correct his bad behavior.”
