The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County will be honoring local first responders while also continuing a tradition that has stood since WWI.
Tomorrow (June 5th) is National Donut Day, which was established in 1938 to celebrate the Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” who served donuts to soldiers on the front lines during “The Great War.”
Continuing that legacy of service and appreciation, The Salvation Army will visit first responders across the community with donated donuts, recognizing the daily sacrifices they make to keep residents safe.
Salvation Army of Manitowoc County Development Director Michael Pearson tells SeehaferNews.com, “This day is about more than donuts. It is about expressing appreciation and building connections. We are proud to carry forward this tradition by thanking the men and women who serve our community every day.”
This year’s National Donut Day celebration was made possible thanks to the support of three Manitowoc bakeries: Hartman’s Bakery, Bakery on State, and On a Whim Sweet Treats Bakery and Coffee.
