A busy street in Sheboygan will be closed for an extended period of time.
Sheboygan’s Department of Public Works has announced that, beginning Monday (June 8th), Erie Avenue between North Taylor Drive and North 19th Street will be closed for construction.
Work to be done will include storm sewer improvements, new crosswalks and pedestrian ramps, concrete panel replacements, and more.
During the project, the intersection of Erie Avenue, North 25th Street, and Wilgus Road will be closed for complete reconstruction between July 6th and August 3rd.
Residences within the construction area will have access while work is completed, but Erie Avenue will be closed to through traffic.
At this time, work is tentatively scheduled to be finished sometime in October, but all work and related traffic impacts are weather-dependent and may be subject to change.
The Sheboygan DPW finished by asking motorists to exhibit caution and to slow down near this and all road construction zones in the city.
