Several laws and updates for ATV and UTV vehicles go into effect today (June 1st).
The biggest update from the Wisconsin DNR is that operators and passengers must wear seatbelts in UTVs.
It will also cost ATV and UTV riders more if they purposely cause damage.
The DNR says that could include up to three times the cost of a ticket. UTV and ATV riders cannot tow any object that carries a person on a trail or route anymore.
A speed limit was set at 10 mph for anyone towing on ice.
Lastly, UTVs are subject to window tint restrictions.
As a reminder, Lieutenant Jacob Holsclaw says ride safe by wearing a helmet and a seatbelt, knowing the rules, and always riding sober.
