NAMI Manitowoc County has revealed the recipients of two mental health-focused scholarships.
Carson Woods of Kiel High School received the PFC Morgan Daly USMC Scholarship, while the Sgt. Terry Peterson USMC Scholarship was awarded to Ava McLean of Two Rivers High School.
Both $2,000 scholarships were designed to honor the lives and legacies of two local servicemen whose families and communities continue to feel their loss.
They were founded by Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County, which merged with NAMI Manitowoc County in 2023.
The local branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness has continued to build on the strengths of both groups, including the issuance of these scholarships.
NAMI Manitowoc County noted, “These scholarships were established to help address the critical need for mental health professionals by encouraging and supporting students who are committed to serving others through careers in mental health. Through this investment in education, NAMI Manitowoc County hopes to strengthen access to care and promote mental wellness throughout our community and beyond.”
