One person is in custody after a disturbance at a Manitowoc gas station.
The Manitowoc Police Department was called to the Kwik Trip at 1137 South 10th Street on Sunday (May 24th) after an individual was acting strangely.
Upon arrival, police encountered a 32-year-old Manitowoc man lying on the ground behind the gas station who was visibly intoxicated.
The individual told law enforcement he wanted to seek medical assistance and was taken away in an ambulance.
However, en route to the hospital, the man stood up and stated he no longer wanted to go.
The ambulance then pulled over, and officers heard him say he “needed to be handcuffed because he was going to start causing problems if he wasn’t.”
When handcuffed, the 32-year-old went limp, requiring law enforcement to pick him up and escort him to a squad car.
Before being placed into the cruiser, the suspect continued to say, “If you pick me up like that again, I’m going to hurt you.”
A sentiment he repeated while being noncompliant at the Manitowoc County Jail, where he was eventually booked on charges of Threats to Law Enforcement and Resisting Arrest.
