Two Rivers’ city manager is sharing some positive news regarding the city’s finances.
Through March 31st, Kyle Kordell says the city’s general fund receives $3.61 million, while costs were around $3.1 million, leaving the city in a positive operating position of around $495,000 at the end of the first quarter.
Kordell credits expenditures have been slightly below the budget’s pace, public safety is generally in line, building permit revenues are ahead of projections, and investment earnings are exceeding normal pacing.
Compared to the same period in 2025, the city’s operating position improved by $139,000.
Kordell says that challenges remain after a record-breaking March blizzard and this month’s severe weather.
The events will add financial pressure to the city’s general funds due to cleanup, overtime, and emergency response efforts.
Kordell stated that the extreme weather events come at a time when local governments are facing growing pressures from aging infrastructure, rising inflation, unfunded mandates, and regulatory requirements from state and federal agencies.
The city manager says he remains optimistic despite what could be ahead.
Two Rivers residents will continue to hear regular financial updates and continued efforts to improve communication, transparency, and public engagement.
