The WIAA has announced that the 2027 boys and girls state hockey tournaments will be relocated.
The tournament, which was held at Bob Suter’s LEGACY 20 Arena in Middleton, will now be played at LEGACY20 Arena at DeForest Yards in the north Madison suburbs.
Executive Director Stephanie Hauser says the three-year agreement through the 2029 tournament marks an exhilarating new chapter for WIAA State Hockey, bringing a world-class facility to both teams and fans alike.
The venue is still under construction, but it will be able to seat up to 3,000 people blended between bucket seating, viewing decks, and suites, and offer a first-class hospitality experience for the fans.
LEGACY20 De Forest Yards will also feature state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, a new scoreboard, and a high-definition video board.
In addition, there will be suites intended for media broadcasting and work areas, administrative operations, and partnership groups, as well as 12 locker rooms and four concession stands.
President and CEO of LEGACY20 Operation Andrew Joudrey said in a news release, “We are thrilled to host the WIAA Boys and Girls State hockey tournaments, and we believe LEGACY20 Arena at De Forest Yards will provide a great atmosphere for the players and coaches. We trust that with our management and great partnership with the WIAA, we will deliver a memorable State Tournament.”
The venue is slated to be completed this summer.
The 2027 state hockey tournaments will be held March 4th through 6th.
