The Manitowoc County man convicted of killing his cellmate in the Green Bay Correctional Institution is appealing his case.
WBAY reports that Jackson Vogel filed the appeal last Thursday, challenging his 1st-degree intentional homicide conviction.
He’s currently serving life in prison after attacking and killing Micah Laureano back in 2024.
A criminal complaint says Vogel did it because of Laureano’s race and sexual orientation.
Vogel was initially sentenced to prison after an attempted homicide in Two Rivers involving a family member.
The last action, according to court records, extended the deadline for a notice of appeal or postconviction motions until last Friday.
When a court of appeals will hear the case is unknown at this time.
