Manitowoc Fire Rescue credits a closed door for helping prevent a house fire from getting too out of hand.
Firefighters were called to the 1000 block of Glenview Drive around 9:00 p.m. yesterday evening for a report of a bang with smoke and flames.
Once on scene, fire crews noted smoke throughout the house and extinguished a fire in the back bedroom within 15 minutes.
The person inside was able to get out and no one else was left in the building.
Fire damage was limited to the bedroom because the resident closed the door to the bedroom when exiting the house.
The amount of damage to the home was not provided by Manitowoc Fire Rescue and the cause was not announced.
The department did use a MABAS Alarm to bring extra help from Branch, Two Rivers, and Newton Fire Departments.
