A decision on disciplinary action against a member of the Sheboygan Police Department may be heading to Wisconsin’s highest court.
Sheboygan’s Board of Police and Fire Commissioners met this week, with one item on the agenda once again being discussions on the status of charges filed against Lieutenant William Adams.
The discussion, which was held in closed session, led to no action being taken on the matter.
As previously reported, the “charges” filed against Lt. Adams are in fact not criminal charges but rather SPD internal disciplinary actions.
Sheboygan City Attorney Liz Majerus spoke to SeehaferNews.com and stated that while she understands the term “charges” in this instance can be a “charged” statement, it is merely legal verbiage.
Lt. Adams was previously suspended without pay by the department for an unknown reason.
In the time since, he appealed that decision in court, and in October of last year, Sheboygan County Judge Samantha Bastil reversed the disciplinary decision made by the Commission, ordering Adams to be “reinstated with full pay and benefits as if continuously employed.”
That oral ruling was then appealed by the City, which failed.
Now, the City has filed an appeal of Judge Bastil’s decision with the Wisconsin Supreme Court; however, that appeal is still pending.
