177 years of farm history will be on full display at this year’s Manitowoc County Breakfast on the Farm.
The annual June Dairy Month staple will be held at the Hochkammer Dairy Farm, located at 5908 Center Road, just north of the Newton Firehouse.
The farm was founded in 1849, and has been owned and operated by the Hochkammer and Krueger families for multiple generations.
The big man in charge these days is Tom “Herbie” Hochkammer, who gave SeehaferNews.com a behind-the-scenes look at their operation.

“We milk about 250 cows, and run about 650, 675 head of animals here,” he explained. “Casey (Hochkammer) of takes care of the cows…Corey (Krueger) takes care of the crops and feeding the young stock, and I help in the field, and I’m a little bit all over the place.”
The Hochammers and Kruegers hosted the Breakfast on the Farm several years back, but this year, it’s the youngest generation that is taking the reins.
Gary and Megan Hochkammer and Emma Krueger were the driving force behind bringing the event back to one of the longest-running farms in the County.
Megan, who is also a superstar athlete at Valders High School, says she is excited because she was very little the last time it was there.
Specifically, she is wants to “show all my classmates or anybody that I know anything about our farm. How we start every calf a little and grow all the way up to milking cows.”

Emma, on the other hand, is excited to showcase the self-sustainability of the farm, as the only thing they outsource is their manure transportation.
“A lot of the past years of the bigger farms that don’t do a lot of their own stuff,” she noted. “So completely being able to see start to finish how we do it by ourselves is going to be a huge difference.”
The 2026 Manitowoc County Breakfast on the Farm is scheduled for Sunday, June 14th, from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
The road leading up to the farm will be blocked off to traffic, so attendees are asked to park in a nearby hay field.
Signs and volunteers will direct you where to go, and transportation to and from the parking field will be available.
The Breakfast will once again be $5 and will include the iconic ham and cheese omelet, sausage, cheese curds, a variety of cheeses, yogurt, cinnamon bread and butter, milk, coffee, and ice cream sundaes.
New to the menu this year will be a cheese quesadilla, which is taking over for the grilled cheese sandwiches of years past.
There will also be farm tours and plenty of activities for people of all ages.
