Funding for dredging the Two Rivers harbor is being proposed.
City staff explains that the office of Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman has confirmed that a draft of the 2027 federal Energy and Water appropriations bill would include $1.8 million for the harbor.
It’s a major step forward after the harbor was last dredged in 2020.
The City of Two Rivers has been in contact over the last several weeks with Grothman, as well as Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin, to advocate for the project and highlight the harbor’s importance to their recreation, boating, and local economy.
While funding for dredging still has a long way to go in Washington, D.C., before it could be approved, city staff calls it a very positive sign that the project has strong momentum moving forward.
Two Rivers residents and charter captains were thanked for recognizing the importance of the Two Rivers Harbor and reaching out to elected officials.
