Manitowoc Public Utilities has given an update on the power outage linked to Sunday’s sudden storm.
It was estimated that around 1,100 customers lost power after a downed tree caused a feeder lockout for the majority of the affected customers.
That issue was resolved quickly, however, there were still more scattered outages, which were much more complex.
Many involved downed power lines, broken poles, and tangled trees.
As of yesterday afternoon, most customers are back in power, but there are a few needing additional work before a reconnection can be made.
While the actual outage work is nearly complete, MPU noted, “There is significant follow-up needed throughout our service territory related to trees near lines, etc. This will continue to be worked on throughout the week.”
The local utility provider thanked the Village of Gresham and New London Utilities for supplying line crews to help with the repairs, and the residents of Manitowoc for their “patience while we worked safely through restoration.”
