A Manitowoc man accused of stealing from a local store is free on bail.
31-year-old Gage M. Giese appeared for a bail hearing yesterday (May 18th), where Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch gave him a $1,500 signature bond.
This comes as Giese faces two felony and two misdemeanor counts of Retail Theft and one count of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
These charges stem from a string of alleged thefts from the Walmart on Calumet Avenue, where the 31-year-old is accused of stealing over $1,500 in merchandise between May 7th and May 13th.
When called to Walmart on a report of the retail theft, Manitowoc Police discovered surveillance camera footage that showed Giese removing the price tags from toy cars, placing them on items marked at significantly higher prices, and purchasing them at the lower prices.
After further investigation, the suspect was tracked back to his residence, where he was arrested.
The 31-year-old will now return to Manitowoc County court to make his initial appearance on June 8th at 1:30 p.m. in Branch 2.
