For the second game in a row, the Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team went to extra innings on Saturday.
After taking down Ashwaubenon last Tuesday, 7-6 in 8 innings, the Ships fell 10-9 on the road to Pulaski, also in 8 innings.
The Red Raiders got the bats working early, plating 7 runs through the first 4 innings, but Bennett Johnson came on in relief of Gabe Eichmann and stopped the bleeding.
The Ships matched the Raiders 4 run output in the 3rd inning, and knotted it all up in the 5th thanks to a Benson Dickrell double, and took a 9-7 lead in the top of the 8th.
The Ships just couldn’t hold on, as an Eli Heuser double cleared the bases, and gave the Raiders the thrilling win in front of their home crowd.
While he struggled on the mound, Eichmann was dominant at the plate, going 3 for 5, including a double and 1 RBI, while Dickrell made the most of his two hits, driving in 4 total runs.
With the loss, the Ships fall to 12-9 overall, and 8-7 in the FRCC, good for 5th place.
There are only four regular-season games left, with the next being at home against Green Bay Preble on Tuesday (May 19th).
