Lakeland University has shown its appreciation to its hard-working faculty.
The university recently held an awards luncheon to recognize the past school year of work, as well as those who have dedicated years and decades to Lakeland.
Kerry Hamm, assistant professor of nursing, director of nursing, and chair of the School of Education, Nursing and Continuing Studies, along with Joe Beniger, director of facilities, were named winners of the 2025-2026 Big Fish Award.
This award represents employees who have gone above and beyond when it comes to improving life at Lakeland for their fellow faculty and students.
New this year were the Finovation Award, which recognizes innovative and mission-driven initiatives, and the Deepwater Under Pressure Award, highlighting someone who stepped up during times of unexpected challenge.
The inaugural Deepwater Under Pressure Award was presented to Human Resources Coordinator Michaela Heling, and the first-ever Finovation Award went to Bursar Sam Jessup.
Also at the event, Lakeland recognized a long list of faculty members who celebrated 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of service at the University.
