
Two local semi-pro football teams each earned victories over the weekend.
The Manitowoc County Mariners hosted the Eau Claire Eagles at Ron Rubick Field and cruised to a 53-0 win.
Numerous graduates from local high schools made impacts in the game, including Austin Isley and Daniel Karlin of Two Rivers, former Lincoln Ships Kenton Beasley and Noah Ayotte, and RJ Jeffery of Valders, just to name a few.
Meanwhile, the Sheboygan County SaberCats bounced back from a league-opening loss to knock off the Burlington Blue Devils 44-16.
The Cats are now 3-1 on the season, while the Mariners improved to 2-1 and look to be building momentum.
The Mariners will continue their 17th season next weekend as they travel to Winneconne High School to face the Fox River Raiders on May 30th.
The Cats will also take this weekend off before traveling to Dubuque University to battle the Dubuque Miners.
