A local malting company is continuing its work to help Peregrine Falcons.
Briess Malt and Ingredients is hosting its own naming contest for four baby falcons that have been born in a nesting box on top of their 244-foot grain elevator in Manitowoc.
Names can be submitted on the Briess Malt and Ingredients Facebook page until next Monday (May 18th).
Winners will get some company items, including a bag of their famous malted milk balls.
Another prize includes a coffee cup featuring a picture of the falcon they named. Briess will announce contest winners next Thursday (May 21st).
The falcon nesting box at the Briess grain elevator was installed in 1992 as part of the Wisconsin Peregrine Falcon Recovery Program.
The malting company noted that the box has produced young falcons for 29 years, with no other site in Wisconsin producing such records.
Peregrine Falcons are known as the world’s fastest flyers, capable of aerial dives exceeding 200 miles per hour.
