Numerous people have been sentenced for their ties to a drug trafficking ring in Green Bay.
Brad Schimel, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, has announced that eight individuals are heading to prison after being found guilty for their roles in bringing and distributing fentanyl to the Green Bay area.
Those from Green Bay sentenced include Ricky Chambers, Jaylen Allen, Peyton Shipman-Allen, Taviaun Love, Xzavier Newsome, and Eugene Herrod.
All of these individuals will be going to prison for anywhere from 4 years to 17 years, with Chambers getting the longest sentence as he was the only one found guilty at a jury trial.
All others pled guilty to federal conspiracy to distribute fentanyl charges.
Throughout the lengthy investigation, authorities learned that those involved would travel to Arizona and purchase fentanyl pills for as little as $0.50 before returning to Green Bay and selling them for up to $20 per pill.
Investigators seized more than 175,000 fentanyl pills linked to the trafficking ring, with seven out of ten of them containing a potentially lethal dose of the harmful drug.
On this monumental investigation and sentencing, Schimel noted, “While the sentencing of the last of the defendants in this drug conspiracy brings the court cases to a conclusion, the harm these individuals have caused to the very fabric of our communities will continue to reverberate for years.”
